We went to Brugge today (or Bruges if you are speaking French), about an hour West of Brussels by train. It was once a major medieval port but after about 1600 it fell into decline. Which means that it is a really well preserved medieval city.
Now it's filled with hoards of tourists. A constant stream of tour boats zoom around the canals, with loudspeakers detailing the surroundings:
