We rented bikes at the station in Haarlem today. True Dutch specials this time: single speed and only back-pedal brakes. It took a little getting used to.
We rode out to Zandvoort and then down the North Sea coast through the dunes, crossing the provincial border into South Holland. Technically Holland only refers to two provinces - North and South Holland - within the Netherlands.
We stopped for lunch in Noordwijkerhout. We came back to Haarlem through the countryside passing by the fields where the tulips are grown.
Total: 48km
The network of cycle paths in the Netherlands is fantastic. (though the signage could use a little work)
